JAZZ IN WEST SUSSEX
About 200 amateur jazz enthusiasts play each week in jazz workshops or courses in the area of 1 million people. Grossed nationally this would make 400 workshops in the UK and 10,000 people playing jazz regularly.

Find a local jazz workshop  Join Jazz Smugglers workshop every Sunday 7.30-9.30 £2 regular players, first time free. Chichester College Workshop on Monday and Wednesday evenings in term time. 40 or more jazz enthusiasts of varying abilities organised into different small groups play themselves silly for a couple of hours. In Havant on Thursdays afternoons from 1.30 to 3.30 an excellent small workshop run by top trumpet player Mike Birch. Call him for details at  01730 266744
In East Sussex you have Sussex University Jazz workshops every Saturday morning several grades all led by famous alto player Geoff Simkins. Telephone 01273 606755.  Brighton Co-op Workshop. Tuesdays at The Open House pub Springfield Road, All newcomers welcome.  Top tutor every week. Long established and very good workshop. Nice workshop, really friendly.

Find your specialist jazz teacher All the teachers for your instrument in the following article are known to us as excellent specialist jazz teachers. Some of them are nationally known names.  You cannot do better.

Learn to play jazz with others. Chichester College is one of the few colleges in the UK to offer a full time course in jazz You’ll go to OCN levels 1,2 and 3 with this one-year course.
